Yes, I agree, although not 100% sure about the strap line - it may start looking busy.  I guess I'd have to see it, though.

They both look great. Like the shadow on the logo.
Overall I prefer card1.
Suggestions for changes:
1. Add 'Media Online' to the logo.
2. Make the URL more prominent and say something like'on 5th. April - go to
media.tech....'
3. A possible strap line to suggest resources for the arts and media world in
the region...
