This is my favourite at the moment. It is 'the Yorkshire and Humber Region',
but do we really want to be so parochial? Maybe we have to be in the sense of
who we are providing the service for, but the market is worldwide.
Nothing wrong with 'workers', but 'professionals' seems to be the more
acceptable term these days.
The key thing is more to do with what we present as the MO service at the
proposed events on 5th. April.
Everyone seems happy with the proposed general appearance of the site, letter
head and cards, so we go ahead on this. I will talk to Tim Mackaye about
getting his work stopped and get the new material printed.
For 5th April we need a good demo for Kirsty at York and me+whoever at the 1st.
Thursday event.
I propose that we don't try to demonstrate on line in a presentation. We should
set up self contained demos. on laptops targetted at the perceived expected
audiences at these events.
Therefore, I think that Kirsty should work with Mark and Andrea Smart to get a
presentation for York focussed on the 'creative sector' cached onto a laptop. I
will help with this.
I will get a presentation organised for the NCPM on the same day.
The cards etc. will have to be ready for these events.
On the wider issue of marketing - this is a knotty problem to solve. We didn't
fill the 'Strategic Business and Marketing and Development' post, but decided
to let ourselves generate the right outputs and approaches anyway. My feeling
is that we are doing this, but it is time consuming. I suggest we carry on as
we are doing - we have got some good looking material produced - and look at
the applicants we get for the posts from the marketing viewpoint.
Regarding the delivery technology:
The new server is installed and running.
Looking at the speed of Vespasian, we need to get Coldfusion installed and
running on the new server before 5th. April. I will arrange for this.
Iain Hughes is liaising with Jonathan Edge at FD to arrange for the Media-Tech
site to be transferred to the new server. Mark needs access to the site to
change it to the MO site and redesign the content. My suggestion is initially
to link to the existing media-tech content via 'resources' and replace the home
page with the mo home page.
>From the middle of next week it should be possible to incorporate the CF login
and database access mechanisms through this site, Sergio and Alex should be
able to assist with this. Although we don't need the site for the
presentations(at least we shouldn't depend on decent working links), people
will be accessing the site after the launch and it should perform.
Content:
Andrea Smart has promised Continuum content and we should have some records to
access in time for the 5th. We could also get the beginnings of at least one
forum going by then. The more the better - ideas please.
I think that's it for now.
Have a nice weekend.
