Last month, there was a question about running Encarta 2000 from a local hard
disk. I had occasion to reinstall our today, so I thought I'd describe the
process a little more completely that I did the last time.

First of all, the information is squirreled away on the installation CD in
\support\nag.hlp. It discusses using a network share, but you can do the ame
thing on a local hard disk.

1) Create a partition for the two CDs.
2) Make a folder for the files, such as EE2000.
3) Put the install CD in and run it. It will ask you for disc 1, but it will
let you in and you can browser for it.

Notes:

1) While the two CDs together almost fill two 682MB partitions, if you copy
them to the same folder, they only take up 913MB.
2) This would probably work without creating the folder, but I wasn't in a mood
to mess with success.

Unlike my previous installation, this one didn't seem to need to be told where
the second disc was. I must have done something differently. This time I
tried all the options to be sure it wasn't missing anything, and the only thing
I had to add was the learning plans - they're on the installation CD. Rather
than copy the folder (ELP, I believe), I just copied the whole CD to another
partition. It might work with just that folder, but it may also be hard coded
to look for that directory structure.

That's all, folks! Hope this helps. I'm using NT4.
