We image CD-ROMs on a Microtest DiscZerver CD server. Some of the CD images
refuse to let me run the setup program. (I normally install the programs on
our file server and put shortcuts to them on the patron PCs in our
library.) Phone calls to the vendor tech support people end up with the
stock answer that you can't run setup from the image, yet some CDs install
just fine from the image. I've had the same experience with both network
versions and single user CDs (metering software licenses or giving access
from only one PC).
For example, last year's network version of SIRS Researcher installed and
worked just fine from the CD server. This year's edition refuses to run
the setup program, producing a "Glbsstub" illegal operation message when I
click on setup.
Any ideas or suggestions will be most welcome. Thanks.
